GlySmart®: Smart Exfoliation
GlySmart® pairs high purity GlyAcid® with arginine, a natural amino acid, in an ionic complex. The arginine holds part of the glycolic acid in reserve and releases it as free acid is taken up, so skin gets a steady supply rather than a single surge. Formulators keep the exfoliation of glycolic acid with less of the sting.
Less sting
In CrossChem testing, GlySmart® produced 57–80% less sting sensation than glycolic acid at the same use level. Titration testing showed the complex also resists sudden pH shifts far better than glycolic acid alone. Full results are in the GlySmart® brochure.
The same skin renewal
Cell turnover testing showed GlySmart® exfoliates on a timescale comparable to glycolic acid alone. That makes it a natural fit for sensitive-skin products and for daily-use exfoliating formulas.
Formulating with GlySmart®
GlySmart® is a clear, virtually colorless liquid containing 64% glycolic acid and 10% arginine, at pH 1.5–2.5. Around 3% suits daily-use products. It may precipitate below 17°C (63°F). GlySmart® is supplied in 25 kg pails and 250 kg drums.
